It's been pretty clear to me that a big part of my calling or my purpose is to give a voice to women who are often marginalized and never heard from...I've recently been researching and paying close attention to Miriam Makeba for a project...I was watching a clip of her on the Ed Sullivan Show in the 1960s. I wept as I watched this pioneer perform on American television in Xhosa, her native tongue. It couldn't have been easy...Yet there she was...That's what inspired me.
