Sister Rosetta Tharpe!!

Even though one of her songs is buried deep within my iTunes library, I was not familiar with the music of Sister Rosetta Tharpe prior to seeing Atlantic Theater's premiere production of George Brant's Marie and Rosetta, which chronicles Sister Rosetta's first rehearsal with protégée, Marie Knight, as they prepare to embark on a tour that would establish them as one of the great duet teams in musical history. 

After extending, Marie and Rosetta unfortunately closes next weekend. If anyone has any interest in the blues, gospel or even rock 'n' roll as a music genre, then Marie and Rosette, a play with song, is definitely worth seeing in the next few days. If the imminent Mathew prevents you from seeing it, Youtube has a wonderful collection of videos and clips to take in.
